Share Link Statistics

Learn how to share your short link statistics with others

Introduction

The Share Link Statistics feature allows you to generate a public shareable link for your short link analytics. This enables you to share click data, visit trends, and other statistics with team members, clients, or stakeholders without giving them access to your dashboard.

Quick Start

Sharing Link Statistics

  1. Navigate to Dashboard > Short Links
  2. Find the link you want to share statistics for
  3. Click the Share button (share icon) next to the link
  4. In the Share Link Stats dialog, click Create Share Link
  5. Copy the generated share URL

The share URL will allow anyone with the link to view the statistics for that specific short link.

How It Works

Creating a Share Link

When you create a share link:

  1. The system generates a unique, secure URL for your link's statistics
  2. The share URL is in the format: https://like.do/share/stats/[unique-id]
  3. Anyone with this URL can view the statistics without logging in
  4. The share link remains active until you delete it

Each short link can only have one active share link at a time. Creating a new share link will use the existing one if it already exists.

What Statistics Are Shared?

When you share link statistics, viewers can see:

  • Total Clicks: Total number of times the link was accessed
  • Visit Trends: Charts showing visit patterns over time
  • Source Analysis: Where the traffic is coming from
  • Device Type: Distribution of PC, mobile, and tablet users
  • Geographic Location: Geographic distribution of visitors
  • Time Period Data: Statistics broken down by different time periods

Shared statistics are read-only. Viewers cannot modify the link, access other links, or see sensitive information like passwords or private settings.

Copying the Share URL

To copy the share URL:

  1. Click the Copy icon next to the share URL
  2. The URL will be copied to your clipboard
  3. A confirmation message will appear
  4. Paste and share the URL with your intended audience

Disabling Share Access

To revoke access to shared statistics:

  1. Open the Share Link Stats dialog for your link
  2. Click the Disable Share button (trash icon)
  3. Confirm the deletion
  4. The share link will become inactive immediately

Disabling a share link is permanent. Anyone with the old URL will no longer be able to access the statistics. You can create a new share link at any time, but it will have a different URL.

Use Cases

Team Collaboration

Share link performance data with your marketing team without giving them full dashboard access:

  • Marketing campaigns: Share campaign link statistics with stakeholders
  • Content performance: Let content creators see how their shared links are performing
  • Team reporting: Provide team members with specific link analytics

Client Reporting

Provide clients with transparent access to their campaign statistics:

  • Agency work: Share campaign results with clients in real-time
  • Influencer marketing: Allow influencers to track their unique link performance
  • Affiliate programs: Let affiliates monitor their referral link statistics

Public Transparency

Build trust by sharing link performance publicly:

  • Open campaigns: Share statistics for public awareness campaigns
  • Fundraising: Show transparency in fundraising link performance
  • Community projects: Let community members see project reach

Best Practices

1. Share Selectively

Only create share links for statistics you want to make public:

✓ Share campaign performance with clients
✓ Share team collaboration links with team members
✓ Share public campaign data transparently
✗ Share internal testing links
✗ Share sensitive business data

2. Monitor Access

Keep track of which links have active share URLs:

  • Regularly review your shared links
  • Disable share access when no longer needed
  • Create new share links for updated reporting periods

3. Use Descriptive Link Names

When sharing statistics, ensure your short links have clear, descriptive names:

  • Use meaningful slugs that reflect the content
  • Add descriptions to help viewers understand context
  • Tag links appropriately for better organization

4. Communicate Context

When sharing statistics links, provide context:

  • Explain what the data represents
  • Note the time period being measured
  • Clarify any specific metrics of interest
  • Set expectations for data refresh frequency

5. Regular Cleanup

Maintain good hygiene with share links:

  • Disable share access for completed campaigns
  • Remove share links for deleted or expired short links
  • Recreate share links if you need to reset access

Security Considerations

Access Control

While share links make statistics public, they have built-in security:

  • Unique URLs: Each share link has a unique, hard-to-guess identifier
  • No Authentication: No login required, but URL must be known
  • Read-Only Access: Viewers cannot modify data or settings
  • Isolated Access: Viewers only see statistics for that specific link

Privacy Protection

Shared statistics do not expose:

  • Target URLs (only the short link is shown)
  • Link passwords or security settings
  • Other links in your account
  • Personal account information
  • Email addresses or user details

Revocation

You have full control over access:

  • Disable share links instantly at any time
  • No grace period - access is revoked immediately
  • Create new share links as needed
  • No limit on how many times you can enable/disable

FAQ

Q: Can I share statistics for multiple links at once?

A: Currently, you need to create individual share links for each short link. Each link has its own unique share URL.

Q: Do shared statistics update in real-time?

A: Yes, shared statistics reflect the current data. When someone views the share link, they see up-to-date statistics.

Q: Can I set an expiration date for share links?

A: Not currently. Share links remain active until you manually disable them. We recommend disabling share access when no longer needed.

Q: Will viewers see the target URL?

A: No. Shared statistics only show the short link itself and analytics data. The target URL and other configuration details remain private.

Q: Can I see who viewed the shared statistics?

A: No. The share link is public, and we don't track who accesses it. Anyone with the URL can view the statistics anonymously.

Q: What happens if I delete the short link?

A: Deleting the short link will also invalidate its share link. The share URL will no longer be accessible.

Q: Does sharing statistics consume credits?

A: No. Creating and maintaining share links does not consume any credits. It's a free feature available to all users.

Q: Can I customize what statistics are shown?

A: Currently, all available statistics for the link are shown in the shared view. Custom filtering is not yet available.
